Palo Duro Canyon in North Texas Offers Romance
Palo Duro Canyon is the largest canyon in the U.S. outside of the Grand Canyon and it is located in the north Texas Panhandle not far from Amarillo. While the drive is a little further, it is worth it. The Canyon’s beauty and size make it romantic. Think of looking out over the canyon cliffs in the sunset or under the moon lit sky. The romance factor is automatic.
At Palo Duro State Park, cabins that are built right on the cliff are available. Imagine looking out over the canyon from the patio area of a private cabin. Driving along the canyon area is picturesque. Additionally, the adventure at Palo Duro Canyon can include renting horses at the park of just taking a stroll or dining out.
Romantic Places in San Antonio
San Antonio is about four hours from Dallas and can be an easy trip for a romantic weekend. San Antonio is located in the Texas hill country and one of the best parts is the river walk in downtown. Romantics can rent a room from a hotel located right on the river walk or from a hotel in the country with a beautiful view of the Texas hills.
The downtown area is great for romantics who want to sightsee. From the upscale restaurants and shops on the river walk to the Alamo, there is plenty to see and do. Additionally, there is almost nothing more romantic than renting a riverboat cruise. There is also plenty of music at the many clubs in the area.
Romantic Weekends in Southern Oklahoma
People may not think of going out of state when looking for a romantic weekend that is a short drive away. However, southern Oklahoma can be less than a two hour drive from Dallas. That part of Oklahoma is very wooded and scenic and almost every little town has cabins for rent. There is nothing more romantic than a log cabin nestled in the woods with all the amenities.
Oklahoma also offers scenic drives and lots of adventure for outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for a romantic weekend. Outdoor hiking and canoeing on many of the rivers in the area are fun, but can also be very romantic. Couple can see the sights, including Indian carvings and beautiful landscape.
Romance is in DFW
People really do not have to leave Dallas for a great romantic weekend. Even if living in the Dallas area, there is nothing more romantic than a hotel room in downtown Dallas overlooking the city from a top floor. Dine at one of the many great restaurants in the West End or just north of downtown near McKinney Avenue.
Dallas also has a great nightclub scene with plenty of great music. The Dallas Alley offers the opportunity to pay one cover charge for the opportunity to enter multiple nightclubs, each offering a different type of music, from rock to country to jazz and pop. Just east of downtown Dallas, the Deep Ellum and lower Greenville Avenue areas also offer a vibrant nightlife for romantics with lots of music, dancing, and dining.

Romantic weekends are easy to find in the Dallas area or with a short drive from Dallas. Dallas offers romance, but for people looking to get out of town for a romantic weekend, San Antonio, the Palo Duro Canyon area, or southern Oklahoma also all offer great options.
